Chikan is a traditional embroidery style from Lucknow, which dates back to the Mughal empire. It is an intricate type of hand embroidery on a variety of cloths including georgette, cotton, chiffon etc. Traditionally, white thread was embroidered onto pastel shades of clothes, but lately, multicolour threads have been used on brighter fabrics to yield even more attractive fabrics.
Modern chikan also utilises different decorations like mukaish, kamdani, sequins, mirrors etc. There are thirty-two different types of stitches in chikan and give result to beautiful and attractive pattern.
Care Instructions: Natural dyes are used in printing all the designs in this fabric, so minimal colour bleeding is observed in the first and second wash. For the same reason, separate hand wash and/or salt water soak is recommended. For long-lasting bright colours, do not dry under direct sunlight. No shrinkage is observed.
